Description

Santo Antão is the most famous Cape Verdean island for hiking trips. Its tropical valleys, unusual vegetation and picturesque mountain villages give it its typical image. During the hike you’ll learn a lot about Cape Verdean culture, enjoy breathtaking viewpoints and visit unspoiled places. Cova volcano crater - Paul valley descent (9 km) Start in the centre of the island in the extinct volcano crater of Cova. A lot of agriculture is done in the crater and it’s definitely one of the highlights of Santo Antao. Follow the winding mountain paths down to the Paul valley. Enjoy magnificent views and walk between the banana and sugarcane plantations. Lunch is served in a familiar restaurant in the valley. Good to know: If you only stay 1 day on Santo Antao we will pick you up by the harbour and bring you back in time for the return ferry. We advise you to take the ferry at 08:00 in Mindelo.
