Hike / visit Monte Verde

Monte Verde is the highest mountain on São Vicente Island, Cape Verde, standing at 744 meters (2,460 feet). Climbing to the top is a great adventure, offering amazing views of the island, the city of Mindelo, and the beautiful Atlantic Ocean.

The hike is not too difficult, so most people can enjoy it. The trail takes you through rocky paths with patches of greenery and some local plants. You might also see farmers growing crops or birds flying above.

As you go higher, the air gets cooler, making the climb more refreshing, especially in the morning or late afternoon. Once you reach the top, you’ll get a breathtaking 360-degree view of the island and even spot the lush green mountains of Santo Antão in the distance.
