A Taste of the Real Santiago

Northern Santiago is where you'll discover a different side of Cape Verde. From green valleys and mountain scenery to lively local villages, this part of the island offers an authentic experience that goes far beyond the beaches.

  • One of the highlights of the tour is the impressive Pilon Tree, a giant kapok tree that has been standing for hundreds of years. Its enormous trunk and roots make it one of Santiago's most photographed natural landmarks. Surrounded by farmland and tropical vegetation, it's the perfect place to take a break, enjoy the peaceful surroundings, and learn more about the island's rural traditions.

  • Another favorite stop is the vibrant Assomada Market, where local life comes alive. Farmers and vendors from across the island gather here to sell fresh fruit, vegetables, spices, homemade products, clothing, and handicrafts. Walking through the market is a great way to experience the everyday rhythm of Santiago, meet friendly locals, and discover flavors you won't find anywhere else.

If you're looking for a tour that combines beautiful scenery with authentic Cape Verdean culture, the North Santiago Island Tour is a wonderful way to explore the island beyond the usual tourist spots.
